So, all of a sudden my truck would not start. It did crank at first but now, no crank no start. Battery cables cleaned. New starter put in. Still nothing. Fuses checked. Ground wire maybe?

Please tell me you tested your battery and checked the starter relay before going through all the pain and suffering and expense of changing the starter. It's almost never the starter.

Also, did your truck ever have an aftermarket alarm installed, up under the driver's side of the dash? Do you know if your double cab is one that was equipped with immobilizer, i.e. it needs a chipped key? Did you try another factory key?

Even though I insisted that it wasn't the starter since it cranked, no one listened and changed it. It's a double cab. No aftermarket alarm. We do have 2 keys. They said they checked the relay.

Another stupid question, but will it turn over when you throw jumper cables on it from another known-working vehicle? (to both - and + terminals)

Got a picture of the engine bay, just so we can visually see what you're looking at? Taken from high over the middle, so we can visually check all grounds and whatnot.

We tried that originally. Haven't tried the factory key yet. Waiting for my step dad to bring it over.

I'm a single mom and share custody with my ex. If I don't have a working vehicle, I can't have him because I can't get him back and forth to school. I'm so stressed. After reading some threads, you guys seem really knowledgeable so I'm hoping for a miracle!! I will try anything. So please keep throwing it ideas for me to check. I'm so grateful for you guys

If you turn on the key can you shift out of park? If so, have you tried shifting into gear and then back to park with the key on?

Does the steering column telescope in this truck? Sometimes wires break from frequent movement when the column is extending and retracting.

I'm just curious if you get any turnover by jumping the starter relay. (basically bypass the relay to force power to the starter)

I'd also be curious to test for power at the starter itself, like maybe the starter wires got nicked or the ground is crusty? Mice love nesting up under there, maybe they chewed a starter wire and the shop missed it?!

Make sure in park before jumping relay!

You can watch Youtube to see how to bypass relays

To his point ^^ this vid is for a 2000 Tundra, so won't be identical to yours, but you get the idea. If you look inside your fuse/relay cover in the engine bay, you can tell which of yours exaclty is start relay.
