Are you 100% sure you don’t have any phase issues? When subs are out of phase, the low frequencies seem to disappear as they are canceling those frequencies out.

Great point, and this was one of the first things we checked!

I’ve had this sub running now for 2 weeks, it’s being driven by a 500w JL JD500.1 amp and their control knob, gain set appropriately so I can push right to the edge of distortion by tweaking the knob. I was running a Polk 10” from an old setup before putting this alpine in, being driven to 200w by a 400.4 JL amp with 2 channels bridged. The difference between them is night and day, and I’m really please with this setup, it can drop bass bombs at pretty good levels while making tight punches as well. It fits, but barely, the grill is pushed in a bit but not to the point of interfering.

I sound deadened the back wall skin and the removable panel, and cut the factory mat around the box, it wasn’t going to fit otherwise. It had to go right here to not hit the metal bracket things out of the back of the seat.

Man, I can’t believe how long it’s taken to get this going! Weather has killed about any opportunity that we had to actually work on a relatively simple project, but we never made it a high priority to build this.

Wanting to lose the pair of Kicker Comp RT 8’s in a 0.6 cubic foot garbage enclosure and go to a quality single 10” or 12” sub in a ported enclosure that fits the subwoofer more than the truck was the main goal.

With the DD Audio SL612 driver we chose, I wanted 1.5 to 1.75 cubic foot net volume. Since my amp doesn’t have an adjustable subsonic filter (it is preset to 25hz), we designed the port to tune the enclosure to 37hz. We were afraid of the driver unloading if we went much lower than that, and I listen to music; not bass-head shit.

Buying the Gately seat brackets hurt the wallet, but sure made some real space behind the seats! The bottom of my box is 8.75” deep and we didn’t even need to notch the baffle for the seat frame. If we needed more depth, we could’ve gone 10” deep with a notch.

Gross volume is just about 1.95 cubic feet and net is 1.66. Exactly where we want to be!

Gotta let the glue dry and paint it. I’ll be out of town most days through Wednesday this week, so it will get installed on Thursday. About time…

Plenty of depth! The block under the finger shows the depth after the driver is recessed. We did slide the sub down a bit, which just gave us more room.

Simple port work. About as easy as it gets…

Ready for paint and a speaker. For reference, this is only 35” wide. 25” tall. Top is 2.5” deep and bottom is 8.75”.

Well, well, well. All done now, so might get a chance to throw it in tomorrow evening if all goes well.

Can you post some pictures when you only have the box set before you set the seats in

Shore can…. Got done with my daughter’s volleyball tournament earlier than normal, so we just put it in.

Absolutely pounds! We’ll do a little fine tuning on the amplifier, but it’s got way more meat than I need. Sounds a brazillion times better now.

is there a reason you close to locate on the drivers side? i haven't tested it but supposedly for cabin gain passenger side to the far right supposedly nets more cabin gain.....

Try getting a ported box for your current subs.

Really, it just worked out nice to be able to retain the jack and tool storage. Might get some more cabin gain on the other side, but I’m getting more out of this than I need or expected. It’s a night and day improvement from my previous setup, on the same power.

Plus, the back wall has more bumps and such on the passenger side. Was easier to keep the box simple on the driver’s side. Could have done either though. Mostly wanted the port toward passenger side.

I know he’s got a solid following, but I never did receive the specific answers I asked him for when I reached out. I’ve heard a lot of good things about his boxes, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

I’ll make one, but not for my truck. They’ll go in another vehicle here at home. Probably shoot for close to 2 ft3 for the pair and see how they do. Wood is cheap.
