I have an '06 Crew cab SR5 and I'm having a minor issue with my blend door knob, and would like to fix it before it turns into a bigger issue. It is getting partially hung up only between the 10 and 12 o'clock positions. It works perfect at all the other spots. It feels like the door is hanging up a little bit and it takes more pressure to get it to move. Any tips on what to check? Thanks in advance, this forum has been really helpful with my new to me truck.

Thank you Shifty, exactly what I needed. I had searched for blend door issues and didn't find any of that. Now I know what to look for. I'll try lubing the arms first, if that's not it I'll pull the dash apart.

I had this the other day and a wire from the radio had fallen down and jammed the gear

Thanks for that. I sprayed silicone on the arms that are on the side of the airbox and that definitely helped some. It doesn't feel like it's on the verge of breaking anymore. I'll have to pull the dash open and clean that bevel gear and the arms real well.

I sprayed silicone on the linkages on the side of the heater box and put some lithium grease on a few spots I could get to. It's kind of a bitch to reach anything in there! The force needed to turn the knob is MUCH easier than it was. It no longer feels like it's on the verge of breaking something. I'll pull everything apart in the next few weeks and clean it all real good and lube it. Thanks for the help, you guys are great.

I really need to do this on my truck at some point. mode-switching between two specific modes (I think it's from foot/head blen to defrost?) has never been easy on the truck, and I'm worried one of these days I'm going to end up snapping a door or something at some point.

I feel like lubrication of the mechanics for the doors is probably just as important as lubrication of the tailgate handle. Maybe we need a 'lazy sod' thread for lubricating the entire control setup, from the dash to the side-dash, to the behind-the-glovebox dash...

Mine was going between the feet, and the head and feet position. Everything else was fine. Before I sprayed it with silicone it definitely felt like it was on the verge of breaking something. After spraying a little lithium and silicone, it's now just slightly stiffer than the others, but just a little. It took 3 minutes.
