2020 sport . Having startup issues. Battery level showing good. First try's startup wouldn't happen . Ticking and no turn over . 3 or 4th try it worked. Has happened before and they tightened and cleaned connectors. Connectors are clean. 35000 km

    Anyone have this issue?

Have you tested the battery under a load?

No , but Had battery tested last year by dealership and said it was fine not sure what that includes. I did drive it today after it started for 30-40 minutes.

The battery on my 2020 died after 2 years. It was covered under warranty. The dealer initially tested it and it was "fine". They then did a second larger test where I believe they put a load on it and it came up with a bad cell.

I wasn't really having starting issues but weird electronic issues like the truck staying running after remote starting and getting in (normally it auto shuts off).

There's a lot of threads on here about premature battery failure in Toyotas.

My dad even had a 2022 4runner that had a battery die within 800 miles.

Check all ground straps. Tighten terminal connections at each post.

Yeah they keep telling me the battery is fine and charge me for tests. I usually don't go through the dealership but it's under warranty so it's seems like my only choice. It did this 1 year ago and needed it to get towed. Now it's starting again. Could it be anything worse then the battery? Scared of other shit popping up ( more expensive).

At that low of mileage, I cant imagine it being anything else. Especially being intermittent. Strange they are charging you for the tests though.

Yeah they replaced the battery last year as well. I'm certain it isn't the battery. I just don't trust any toyota dealers near here. But could be wrong. I'm no mechanic. Could my fuel being low have anything to do with it? I ok try get a video of it.

Today was the third consecutive day it happened in the am. Ticking on the first and sometimes the second try after sitting overnight. Then 3rd or fourth try it turns over. And away I go. I was low fuel over this time. I'll see tomorrow if it starts. I have to mention this happened 2o22 December January . Toyota fixed it and has occurred again.
