Are they different or are they a different name for the same thing?

Been looking for running Boards and some are called nerf boards, but nothing tells me if they are different in some way.

Nerf bars and running boards are both body/ panel mounted steps with little to no protection for your rocker panels and perfect for 99%of owners. Nerf bars are usually round with a flat step or grip tape. Running boards are flat. Sliders are frame mounted with a primary function of protecting the rocker panel while wheeling from rocks and other trail obstacles usually with an up sweep or angle that can be used as a step.

Very different. Running board- plank shape step. Nerf bar- tubular shape with topside step area(s). Although some models have step hoops hanging off them kinda like saddle stiirrups. IMO, these only look and function well in a 4 or 5 inch width on a Tundra. Several 3" width versions exist, but aren't the best option, so beware.
As said above, rock sliders offer the best body damage protection. White Knuckle, SDHQ, and RCI are a few good suppliers of these.

So I'm guessing them that this would be a running board. There's a hole in the front cap of it and i can't find that part so thinking about replacing them all together... but can't find that particular one.

Actually, I beleive that would be classified as a nerf bar or more properly step tube.

All of the things that were already mentioned above

I would call these nerf bars based on the tubular design and step pad placement at the front and rear doors. Do you know if these are OE or aftermarket steps? Manufacturer's more than likely can offer you replacement parts for damaged or missing parts.

Went ahead and replaced the running boards because I couldn't find that cap anywhere.

If there's anyone in Hampton Roads, Va that thinks they can use the old ones, contact me and make an offer. The right side one has damage on the cap, but that's the only problem.

Depends on if I run out of glue and colored paper
It's worth mentioning that many legit rock sliders are similarly priced and several offer a step whilst also giving you a place to jack up and rocker protection. The trade off is that they are heavier.

    Food for thought

I've already replaced the running boards so it's kinda too late to go with something else.

Thank you for the advice though.

The old ones are going to the dump unless i come across someone who thinks they can use them.

Didn't realize there was a vendor in here. What kind of parts do you sell? I need one of the black deals that go in the rain track on top of the truck. Don't know what they are called or where to find it.

Hello!! RealTruck is a premier manufacturer of aftermarket truck, Jeep and Bronco accessories. I'm not too sure what type of part you're looking for. Is it the cab roof cross bars? Feel free to PM me or email me at forums@realtruck.com.

Links are to sparks parts, any toyota parts place will be able to pull up those numbers.

That's exactly what I need. But this is what drives me nuts. I go out looking for these things and I find them ranging in price from 30 bucks for the set (both sides) to 200 bucks for one.

Ugh. Me and internet shopping just don't get along. Guess I'm just getting too old and impatient.
