    Hi,
I am starting to finally pull the trigger on wheel/tire combo and looking at method MR701 with +35 offset with a 35x12.5x17 tire. Searched a bit and didn’t get a straight answer..

Running aftermarket UCA and willing to do BMC and massage front fenders etc. would the tire/wheel combo clear the UCA? I think that is the biggest question.

Are you already running the aftermarket UCA? Also, including the brand/type would help those familiar with specifics of the UCA to better answer your question.

regardless, if you are running the aftermarket UCA what is your current wheel/tire setup?

Yeah more specifics will help. +50 clears oem and uniball ucas. +35 would additional ucas but possibly not very large designs like JBA. +35 should not need a bmc but likely would need bumper liner+mudflap trimming, which is straightforward.

Running camburg ball joint UCA with fox 2.5 coilovers with resi dsc front and back and stock trd wheel/tires currently.

I’m open to trimming bmc and or front bumpers if needed, I prefer the tucked in look on the truck. A few pics of tundra and Jeep for reference. All work done in house, not afraid to turn wrenches lol

Oh yeah should be good to go with camburg + 35mm offset + 12.5”/315mm wide tires, as those are pretty compact UCAs. Guessing no bmc is needed. There’s a part of the stock mud flap that sticks out that I cut off. I also remove the inner front fender liner attached to the bumper (or people will push the liner in too). Pics are same tire size and lift but 50mm offset.

Thanks for the confirmation. Looks like you’re running the rock warrior wheels, nice setup!

No problem at all! Yeah rolling two sets of Rockwarriors, they are great if you can find them in decent shape/price (there are some for 3-4k on ebay right now haha). The 21lb weight is very noticeable with larger wheels and kept the acceleration/braking very similar to stock. 17” rims are also ideal for getting Load C and D wheels instead of having to use Load E all the time.

You’ll most likely have to remove the front mud flaps and push your front bumper liner in or use spacers to push your front bumper out (which is what I did). You will clear the UCAs with no problem at all. I doubt a BMC will be warranted.

yeah while I like the rw wheels I’m not willing to pay more than I can get some aftermarket ones. That’s just me though which is reflected in the pricing for them I guess haha

planning a mild build for the tundra at this time, it’s a family hauler sometimes daily driver and weekend toy. Probably get a toy hauler soon as the kids are getting older so I’ll be looking for e rated tires or maybe keep the stock wheel/ e tire for when towing. Not sure yet as I want to regear after 35’s too. Looking at falken at3 or mt baja at’s. I need to start looking at tires too with different load ranges now..

    thanks again!

I have 30+ XD Rims on 35" tires. No rub, No BCM.

Wheels & Tires are tucked in perfectly. I did take off the front rear mudflap. But I still have the front plastic piece still up front.

well I found a good deal on the method 703’s with +35 offset. So about to order 35x12.5 or 315/70 mt Baja boss at. Getting nervous whether the tires will clear, I test fitted the wheels and eye balling it doesn’t looks good lol

Are you running a 35” tire? The 703’ come in 6.2 back space so in theory I should have .2 inch more clearance than the rw wheels which have 6.4 back space.

Yes running both a Duratracs and Nokian Hakkas in the 315/70r17 size. The Duratracs seem slightly wider/closer to the UCA. I even ran these with no lift for a few months (picture) and was all good. +50 offset so +35 may be slightly tighter during turns but obviously much better UCA clearance with +35.

Yeah already have the lift installed, had to look at the actual backspace numbers since offset numbering wasn’t telling the whole picture since the 703 are 8.5 wide vs rw which is 8 wide. Hoping the Mickey’s clear. Will know soon enough!

Look at 315/70r17. They are .1-.2" shorter in diameter, typically (35s are really ~34.5-34.6") and a little wider... and usually a good bit cheaper.

Specifically these can be had for <$300 and are only load C, 52lbs:

I was actually looking at load range e since I plan to pull a trailer too. The Mickey only comes in load range e with the 315/70 option. I’m worried about the extra width though.

Oh ya, if you need the durability and stability E load is the way to go. The extra width is really slight. I have 325mm +25 9" rims and there's loads of room to the stock UCAs.

They fit! Was some slight rub on the body mount so chopped it today, will filll with plate later. Tons of room on the UCA, next is going to try and fit coach builder steering kit. On the web site says min 25 offset. Might email and get the specs for the heim and measure.

I'm looking at pretty much the same setup. 17" Method 703's with Toyo Open Country AT3's 35x12.5r17. I have an ADS suspension with MCM UCA's, which are pretty similar to the total chaos uppers. How are you liking that +35 offset with the 35's?

I think it looks great, little to no poke which is what I wanted. As long as you don’t have bypasses should be good to clear. I still had to do a body mount chop mind you which I had no issue with. Other than that regear is definitely in the plans next but I expected it from my past experience.

took it out this past weekend to some poppy fields down some dirt roads, tires and suspension setup kicked ass didn’t even air down and ride was smooth.

You could have avoided that by moving the wheel forward using the alignment cams and increasing caster. Caster is one of those things where it's fine to have more than factory spec.

+35 to +45 is ideal for the 2nd gen... it's a shame there were so few options.

Yes I’m aware however the front was tight as well, didn’t want to deal with shims cutting on the front as of yet just wait until I find a front winch bumper I like.

Can anyone tell me if the 35mm offset with a 12.5” wide tire and SPC upper control arms will rub?

Not sure if you’re concerned about rub between the tire and UCA or between the tire and frame/body mount area?

You should be just fine between UCA and tire.

Rubbing at the frame body mount may be an issue, depending on your specifics. Mine doesn’t rub though.

you might also rub on your skid plate if you’re still using the stock one.

Worried about the tire rubbing on the control arm. Do you have SPCs, +35mm wheels, and a
    12.5” wide tire?

    I have +35mm wheels, 12.5” tire, and MCM UCA’s. I think you’d be fine with the SPC’s.

here the pic of the uca, figure I post here for others as well. The SPC UCA do have a bigger ball joint area, “should” clear IMO.

Fox 2.5 coilovers with DSC from accutune. Don’t know the actual lift measurement, didn’t measure before/after. Would guess 3” front, using toytec shackle in the rear for now.
