Put a jack handle on the end of your breaker bar as an extension for extra torque. Then put all the elbow grease you can into that sucker, and it oughta come free

 

Remove Jack handle. Put onto breaker bar. Then lean wit it. (Rock wit it)

 

Autozone lets you borrow a 2 ft 1/2” drive breaker bar; good quality too, OEMtools IIRC. Sounds like a good use for one.

 

I had this issue the other day. I soaked mine in wd40 three times over 24hrs and it came off the next day no issues

I just zipped mine off with an impact. ZZZOOOOOOOP! No problemo.

 

You can open the hood and hold onto the fender while step on the breaker bar to apply force with your foot.

 

Or use one of these. 100% of the time, it works everytime.

 

I'm taking mine off later today and hoping the impact wrench will do it without issue...

 

A little heat and penetrating oil works wonders on stubborn threaded connections.

 

I've got that dewalt impact. It works great on those axel nuts. I bought it when I had the exact same problem. I hear the Milwaukee ones are good too. I'm unsure if the cheaper compact impact would do it.

 

Hit it with your purse as hard as you can.

 

I'm in the weirdo crowd and have a Bosch impact, and it whizzed right off after 3-4 taps.

 

Way back when I first bought battery tools, I got Ryobi. So when I needed an impact wrench, that's what I got. Already had the batteries and charger so why not. It's worked great for me. Got both axle nuts off yesterday without issue. Definitely took more than 3-4 taps...but got the job done. I was just thinking how tough it would have been without that tool. Was great for getting the lower front shock mount bolt out, too.

 

True test of an impact is crank bolt.

 

I believe it. I know with older Toyotas the "trick" was wedging a long breaker bar on it and 'bumping the starter'. Let the starter do the work. Can't remember what the safety measure was to keep the engine from actually starting. Would have to have been something disconnecting spark. But people had horror stories from it going wrong....

Back then these powerful battery impact wrenches weren't available, as far as I know, so people got creative.

 

pull the fuel pump fuse.

It was on the table when I was doing my timing belt/WP. But my muscles/ pipe on my breaker bar/ did the trick and I was able to get her loose.

 

Right, air tools were invented just recently too

Most of us don't have air tools. But having a battery powered tool set is pretty common.

On some of the old trucks there was no fuel pump fuse. Mechanical pump run by the movement of the cam. Weird but my 83 4x4 had the mechanical pump. My 78 2wd had the electric, in-tank pump.

 

A 30 gal, 125 psi, 110VAC air compressor should provide the torque you need for several seconds until the tank empties. An air impact is cheaper than an electric one.

 

Back then didn't they have lightning hoses?

I tried this without luck. Some and a tube extending the breaker bar did the trick.

 

It sucks when you can't bust a nut. Sometimes you just gotta keep trying!

 

My Milwaukee electric (not cordless battery) impact wrench took mine right off.
