I'm looking for group input on a potential next truck. Maintenance history is a little light. Recent invoice shows timing belt and water pump done last fall. It references a bad waterpump bearing. Not sure if that indicates overheating?
Frame looks spotless and overall in good shape. Possible VC gaskets leaking in engine bay. Would appreciate input from fellow members.

Frame is clean. Brake fluid looks good. Power steering fluid looks dark. You'd think they would clean up the engine bay before posting pics. At least you can see that the battery is fairly new.

Can't tell if it looks like the coolant blew on the right side underneath the hood. Looks like something spewed. And not sure how concerned I should be about it.

Looks like coolant blew everywhere under the hood. Closer inspection and owner explanation required. Would want to make sure it didn’t overheat.

Is there a way to confirm if the engine is damaged from overheating? I can only think of a pressure test to make sure head gasket is still solid.

Just assuming here, but if it had a bad WP bearing, and there's coolant all over the engine bay, something bad happened. What are they asking for it, and I'm guessing you're not close by it?

That's where my skeptical mind is going. It's a Cali truck with under 200k miles and asking $11,500.

I'm growing more and more hesitant. Seems a little too good to be true. The invoice from the TB job states "Found bad water pump bearing."

Valve cover gasket looks interesting. Also that license plate sequence was only used in CA from 2010 to 2011, so that's not the original license plate.

The big spew mark underneath the hood is definitely something worth asking about.

That looks like it was leaking out of cylinder 8 spark plug tube gasket, solely.

Appreciate the insight from everyone. Helped to solidify my thinking and gonna pass on this one. I asked the seller to elaborate on the situation. He didn’t have much info to offer and it looks like another previous owner was the one who dealt with the TB/WP job and potential coolant situation. Makes it look like the current seller drove the truck for a bit, realized there was a problem and is trying to recover his cost.

I found another one. I'm leaning really hard towards getting it. Let me know your thoughts. The possible issues I see are the steering rack. What am I missing.

I only see what looks to be light surface rust towards the rear. I would check that spare tire carrier cross piece. Probably only superficial. At first glance all looks clean. Winner

I probably won't be able to verify until I pick it up. It's a long way from here. I think it's worth the risk.

Looks pretty good overall, some areas just look dirty/hard to tell if it's rusty. Looks like newer frontend components (cheap-o struts?)

These areas look a little sus though.

Love the color though, I think it's my favorite (and rare?)

The truck has been cleaned up some, cuz it was really dirty. There does seem to be some small surface rust spots, but not anything bad enough that looks deep or structurally damaging.
