Used this Osram Bulb (800+ Lumens) to replace Sylvania LED Bulbs (360 Lumen). The Osram is brighter. I recco these if you want that ‘extra’ light for reverse without going into the work of adding auxiliary lights. If you want super bright reverse light, then auxiliary lighting is the go to. If you need just a little ‘extra’, then do the Osram. Hat Tip to Crashes and Turns for the idea.
Used the socket pinch method and added a little NoAlox Electric Grease on the Prongs for cool runnings. Also, scored a few light barbs on the Prongs using a sharp razor for added ‘bite’. Got these for $15 (both) in early Jan 2021. Now priced at $32 (both whoa!). After a month of use the inspected sockets/wire look good with no burning which is a concern adding the extra Watts. Seems like the wiring is heavy gauge and able to handle to short term use in reverse mode.
Updated 11/6/22: After almost two years, the bulbs are still very bright and holding well. No electrical issues or housing melts which was a concern for me going into this experiment. Dew it!
